CFP Professional Annual Conference 2022

30 November, 2022

On Wednesday 23rd November, we made a very welcome return to The Heritage in Co. Laois for our CFP Professional Annual Conference.  This year’s theme was ‘Lead, Inspire and Build Trust’ and we were delighted to make a return to an in-person conference.

As CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals we know that the financial planning journey matters as much as the goal, and our stellar line-up of speakers took us on a journey exploring the future for financial planning in Ireland, the client experience and our own journey as financial planning professionals.

We had an insightful presentation on wealth demographics in Ireland from Kevin McConnell, followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion with Kevin, Paul Grimes, Jane McAleese and moderated by Micheál O’Driscoll. Some key takeaways were that improving financial literacy, encouraging home ownership, savings and investments, and considered financial planning are essential to ensure consumers are resilient to future financial shocks, within their own environment, or the broader economy.

Then, what better way to explore the theme of ‘Lead, Inspire and Build Trust’ than to hear from outgoing FPSB Ltd. CEO Noel Maye. After almost 20 years at the helm of the global CFP certification body, we were delighted to have Noel finish off his “farewell tour” with us here in Ireland and to hear his insights on professionalising financial planning globally.

We then had an excellent presentation from Peter MacCann, General Manager of Dublin’s Merrion Hotel. As CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professionals, we know that clients’ trust and confidence in the Financial Plan, as well as the Planner, are essential. Peter shared his insights into what it takes to build a culture where trust and consistently delivering 5* service excellence are central.

To finish off the day, what a privilege to hear from adventurer Damian Browne as he intimately recounted his incredible story of rowing for 112 days, 3,000 miles, across the Atlantic Ocean, and the physical and mental challenges he faced. He shared his 5 Keys to Mental Strength and Resilience, important insights for all of us apply in our own lives.

We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to our CFP professionals for joining us at our Annual Conference. This event has always been hugely important for our community, and it was fantastic to see you all reconnecting!
