Professor Philip Bourke

Philip Bourke is a Senior Academic Advisor in the Institute of Banking. Prior to this appointment he was Professor of Banking & Finance at University College Dublin and from 1998 until 2004 he served as Dean of UCD Business Schools. He was Director of the Centre for the Study of Financial Markets from 1989 – 2002 and Director of Advanced Management Programmes (Executive Education Division) from 1991 – 2000. From 1984-1986, he was Senior Lecturer in the School of Banking and Finance in the University of New South Wales and Director of the Australian Centre for Banking and Finance.

He has written and edited a large number of books and published a number of academic articles. His research interests are primarily in the fields of financial institutions and bank regulation. He has also acted as consultant to government organisations and the European Union and lectures internationally in banking and finance.

Professor Bourke holds a BComm, MBS (Finance) and PhD from University College Dublin and an MBA from Boston College.
