Global Money Week

Global Money Week (GMW) is an annual global awareness-raising campaign on the importance of ensuring that young people, from an early age, are financially aware, and are gradually acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve financial well-being and financial resilience.

The GMW2024 theme, “Protect your money, secure your future”, focuses on safe money management and highlights the importance of adopting a responsible and informed approach to personal finances, by being aware of potential risks in the financial sector and protecting one’s hard-earned money. Such risks may include financial scams and frauds, including phishing, money muling and online shopping scams, and risks related to data privacy, such as identity theft.

The 12th edition of GMW will take place from 18-24 March 2024. Visit to find out more.  In addition, the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is Ireland’s GMW coordinator and is collaborating with key stakeholders for GMW including:

    • An Economist Webinar, European Money Quiz and a week long FraudSmart campaign on Money Mules.
  • Broker’s Ireland
    • A podcast called “Ask the Expert” giving tips/advice/suggestions
  • Competition & Consumer Protection Commission
    • Daily blogs highlighting themes and a dedicated GMW landing page on their website.
  • Department of Finance
    • Visit to Coláiste Éamann Rís by Minister Michael McGrath on Friday 22nd of March.
  • Financial Services Pensions Ombudsman
    • A dedicated GMW webpage, raising awareness around money muling and focus on fraud cases.
  • IOB
    •  Global Money Week Webinars focusing on the themes for each day.
