Bill Hannan is Chief Risk Officer at Permanent TSB. Before taking up his current role he was Group Head of Risk and Compliance at Irish Life & Permanent, where he was previously Group Head of Compliance, and, prior to that, Chief Operating Officer – Retail of Irish Life Assurance. He was until 1999 Deputy Managing Director and Actuary of Irish Progressive Life Assurance Company, where he had worked since 1974 and where his previous role was that of Finance Director and Actuary. He is Chairman of the QFA Board. He is a Past President of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland, of The Insurance Institute of Ireland, and of the Irish Institute of Pensions Managers. He is an Honorary Life Member of LIA, a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers in Ireland and a Fellow of the Association of Compliance Officers in Ireland.
Professor Philip Bourke
Philip Bourke is Professor of Banking & Finance at University College Dublin and from 1998 until 2004 was Dean of UCD Business Schools, comprising the Smurfit Graduate School of Business and the Quinn Business School.
Professor Bourke was Director of the Centre for the Study of Financial Markets from 1989 – 2002 and Director of Advanced Management Programmes (Executive Education Division) from 1991 – 2000. He has written and edited a large number of books and published a number of academic articles in journals such as the Journal of Banking & Finance. His research interests are primarily in the fields of financial institutions and bank regulation. He has also acted as consultant to government organisations and the European Union and lectures internationally in banking and finance.
Professor Bourke holds a B.Comm, MBS (Finance) and Ph.D from University College Dublin and an MBA from Boston College.
Michael Feeney was appointed Chief Executive of the Institute of Bankers in Ireland in December 2011. Michael’s professional career spans both banking and public service. He joined the Banking Supervision team of the Financial Regulator in January 2009 to lead the Credit team and managed the Credit element of the Financial Measures Project in 2011. Michael held a number of senior management positions at Ulster Bank, including Group Head of Credit and Regional General Manager of the Retail Bank in the Republic of Ireland. Michael is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers in Ireland, holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree at University College Dublin and is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.
Pat O’Sullivan joined LIA in March 2008 and succeeded Brendan Glennon as Chief Executive when he retired on 9th May 2008.
A career banker, Pat joined Bank of Ireland in 1974 and held various positions in the International Group Treasury Division. In 1985 he joined First Active (First National Building Society) and held the position of Branch Manager until 1996. Throughout the period from 1996-2004 Pat held a number of senior management roles in First Active, including Head of Life & Pensions, Head of Mortgage Operations and Head of Customer Services.
From 2004-2005 Pat carried out the role of Secretary of the Irish Mortgage Council (affiliated to the Irish Banking Federation) and in 2005 he was appointed Director-Financial Services with the Irish Brokers Association (IBA).
