Prime Retirement Index©

A clearer view of retirement readiness

Saving for retirement is one thing. Knowing whether you're on track is another.

The Prime Retirement Index© (PRI) provides a simple, accessible benchmark to help individuals understand their progress towards retirement. Built around four savings milestones at ages 35, 45, 55 and 65, it offers a practical starting point for conversations about retirement readiness.

Developed to support greater awareness of retirement preparedness, the PRI highlights the importance of financial planning and the value of professional financial advice in helping people make informed decisions about their financial future.

About the Development of the Prime Retirement Index©

The PRI was developed by Kevin McConnell of GEM Strategic and is licensed by FPSB Ireland for use in Ireland.

FPSB Ireland's involvement builds on our research into Ireland's changing wealth demographics and the findings of The New Retirement Reality, which highlighted a significant gap between pension participation and genuine retirement preparedness.

As Ireland's professional standards and certification body for financial planning, FPSB Ireland's ambition is for the PRI to become a recognised national reference point that encourages greater engagement with retirement planning and reinforces the important role of professional financial advice.

We gratefully acknowledge the support of our founding sponsors, New Ireland, Royal London Ireland, Standard Life and Zurich, in bringing this initiative to life.
